Dance
The St. Ignatius Dance Program offers opportunities for students through dance instruction and performance in three different areas: Dance IA, Dance IB, and Dance Workshop.
In Dance IA and IB students learn the “vocabulary” of dance – positions, terminology for steps, combinations and develop vital elements of dance including balance, posture, gesture, rhythm, space and breath. The class helps the student to discover new ways of moving and to communicate one’s artistic vision through dance.
Admitted by audition only, Dance Workshop offers dance as an academic performing art. Students will learn to further build technique, personal expression and work in a dance ensemble to gain choreographic experience as an individual by taking risks in creating new styles and ways of moving. Dance Workshop performs in the Fine Arts Assembly and Dance Concert.

Drama
The SI Drama Program is the oldest continuously producing high school theatre program west of the Mississippi and ranks in the top ten Bay Area High School programs.
Our students have the opportunity to study basic acting as well as advance scene study. We have four drama productions each year: A playwright Festival featuring a student director, a Fall Play, a Cabaret musical review and a Broadway style musical. Visit our Box Office page for more details regarding these productions.
Our students have gone on to study drama in major universities such as Michigan, NYU, USC, and UCLA just to name a few.

We are excited about our season. Check the Box Office for the formal announcements of performances and ticket information.

Visual Arts
The visual arts program at SI includes photography, sculpture, studio art, art & architecture, art & nature, sacred symbols, sculpture and multimedia design.
The program began in 1977 when Katie Wolf offered to develop a course of study for SI students. Katie was a St. Rose graduate who had studied fine arts at Santa Clara University and had earned an MFA at the San Francisco Art Institute. For nearly 30 years, she has developed curriculum and taught the creative process to thousands of young artists whose work has earned national honors.
“I had great visions of presenting a variety of art styles that would generate the students’ interest in the process of creativity,” she wrote in a Genesis II story. “Who wouldn’t get excited about works by Picasso, Matisse, Magritte, Miro and Munch?
Since 1978, Wolf has taught Art and Architecture, 3D Studies, Studio Art, Sacred Symbols, and Art and Nature, taking students on an inner journey to discover their own creativity and on hundreds of journeys beyond the school walls to see art firsthand in museums and buildings around the Bay Area.
Wolf is a working artist who continues her personal expression through printmaking, large format acrylic canvases, theatrical set design and the design and construction of wearable art.
