PERFORMING ARTS KICK OFF MEETING
All students please join us for our Performing Arts Kick-Off Meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 19 right after school in Bannan Theater.
Spring Musical
2026-27 Spring Musical
Mean Girls, The Musical by Tina Fey
Performers must attend both Dance and Vocal Auditions in order to be cast. Auditions will take place on:
- Tuesday Dec. 2, from 3-4:30 p.m. for Dance Auditions in Wiegand Theater
- Monday Dec. 8, from 3-6 p.m. by appointment only for Vocal Auditions in Bannan Theater
- Friday Dec. 12, from 3-6 p.m. for Callbacks* in Bannan Theater
*Callbacks give the production team a chance to see performers again for particular roles. Don’t worry if you don’t get a callback! It’s a step in the process, not a judgment, and it does not mean you will not be cast. All it means is that the production team has seen enough from your initial audition in order to make a casting decision.
Prior to auditioning, complete the following two steps (links to be published after 8/1/5):
- Fill out the audition form by end of day Monday Dec. 1
- Sign up for a Vocal Audition time slot by end of day Monday Dec. 1, using the appointment scheduler.
Vocal Audition Guidelines
You will need to choose one of the following to sing (sheet music to be posted soon):
- Audition Song, 1 “It Roars”
- Audition Song, 2 “Someone Gets Hurt”
- Audition Song, 3 “I’d Rather Be Me”
- Audition Song, 4 “Stop”
- Audition Song, 5 “More Is Better”
OR choose up to 32 bars of any song you like that demonstrates your range and vocal style.
If you choose to audition with your own song, you will be expected to provide easily readable sheet music in a binder for the accompanist. It should be clearly marked to 32 measures of music with no internal measures cut. Be prepared to give the accompanist a sense of the tempo, and to introduce your selection with the title of the song and artist or composer.

Dance Workshop
The Fall Dance Concert will be held on Dec. 3 at 7 p.m., and Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. & 7 p.m., with tech and dress rehearsals starting two weeks prior.
Auditions will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 25 from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. in Wiegand Theater.
No experience is necessary! Students must attend the entire audition.
Audition Schedule:
- 3:00-3:15 - Arrival, introductions, self-warm-up
- 3:15-3:45 - Ballet barre
- 3:45-4:30 - Jazz across the floor/center
- 4:30-4:40 - Break
- 4:40-5:15 - Contemporary choreography

The Spring Choreography Showcase will be held on May 6 at 7 p.m., and May 7 at 3 p.m. & 7 p.m., with tech and dress rehearsals starting two weeks prior.
Auditions will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 8 from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. in Wiegand Theater. More information to be announced during Fall Semester.

Fall Play

Auditions will take place on Tuesday Aug. 19 and Wednesday Aug. 20 from 3 to 6 p.m. in Bannan Theater by appointment only.

Orchestra

Auditions for Orchestra
Orchestra meets on Mondays from 3:15-5:15 p.m. Additionally , a select group will be invited to join Honors Strings, a smaller chamber orchestra, which rehearses for an additional 50 minutes on Tuesdays 8-8:50 a.m. Anyone not invited to Honors Strings will additionally rehearse Thursdays from 8-8:50 a.m. Honors Strings will have more travel opportunities & competitions and will additionally be given opportunities to learn and perform chamber music throughout the year. The orchestra includes strings only (any wind, brass or percussion players please audition instead for Band)! Prior experience playing a string instrument for at least one year (private lessons or in an orchestra) is required. Using your SI email address, sign up for an audition time here: Audition Appointment Sign Ups.
To audition for Orchestra, please prepare a 2-octave scale in either B-flat Major or C Major in 8th notes (played at quarter note = 90 bpm), and a 1-minute solo of your choice. There will also be a short sight-reading excerpt. If you are specifically trying out for Honors Strings please prepare the All-State Audition Excerpts and Scale listed below:

Band
Band rehearses 8-8:50 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Fall, and 8-8:50 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the Spring. The ensemble includes both Pep Band and Concert Band. There is no audition, but students must either have prior experience in their middle school band program or one year of private lessons, and be able to read music.

Jazz Band
Jazz Band rehearses 3-5:15 p.m. Tuesdays and 8-8:50 a.m. Fridays. Participation in this ensemble is by audition only. Auditions will take place on Aug. 25, 26, and 27 in the Band Room at SI.

In addition to these prepared materials, there will be a short sight reading excerpt. You may also play a short piece of your choice that you feel best demonstrates your abilities. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Green at ggreen@siprep.org.
Choral Program
All are welcome! No experience necessary for Mixed Chorus, which rehearses Mondays 5-7:30 p.m. You just need to have the desire to sing and the time to dedicate to our rehearsals and you will make it into this choir. Please sign up for a 10-minute slot on one of the two days. All choir members must sign up for a slot, even if you have been in SI Choir before. Voices change over the summer! I want to make sure you are placed in the correct voice part.
For Chamber Singers, these two choirs meet before school, two days a week each from 8-8:50 a.m. Limited students are accepted and prior choral/singing experience is required. If you are auditioning for one of our Chamber Choirs, you will need to complete a sight singing prompt at the end of your audition time
All singers will participate in simple vocal warm-ups and must prepare a 30-60 second a cappella piece in any style to sing for Ms. Gomes. Choose a song that shows your voice well.
