Clubs & Activities

Our mission is to train and deploy student educators to provide a free after-school enrichment program for middle-schoolers focusing on advancing the use of renewable energy. This hands-on, science-heavy program teaches middle-schoolers about various ways to generate electricity and raises students' awareness about environmental issues related to our energy use. We aim to serve all middle-schools in the Bay Area, but will prioritize serving schools in under-privileged communities.

We strive to create a mellow, comfortable space/environment for SI students who feel the need to just chill out to music, do homework together with music in the background, or even do some karaoke on days when life is getting stressful and they need some fun.

The Arab Middle Eastern Association (AMA) was created in response to serving the needs of our Arab and Middle Eastern Students at Saint Ignatius College Preparatory. As a group of diverse students from with backgrounds from more than 20 different countries, we aim to create a safe community to explore our cultural similarities, differences, and provide education to the larger student body about our rich histories, cultures and traditions.

Our mission is to educate the St. Ignatius Community about Armenian's rich history and culture through activities, dances, collaboration with teachers, and amazing food. We strive to strengthen the bond between Armenians at SI and create an environment for all SI students to build on their knowledge of Armenians and the American diaspora.

The AC strives to provide a space for artists to share their art with fellow artists, allow for all members to grow via sharing art techniques with their peers, and allow for anyone interested in art to grow. AC places a strong emphasis on the learning process. All artists of all skill levels are welcome to join. Student led workshops give beginning artists and experienced artists alike the opportunity to improve their craft. AC will help students to refine their art portfolio for their college. Most importantly: AC invites people of all forms of art (primarily visual arts) to join. We are all artists, and encourage you to try other forms of art. HAVE FUN.

The Art Therapy Club is a place at SI where students can enjoy quiet music and relaxation after a busy day at school and focus on creating art pieces that express emotions and feelings without necessarily having to talk about them out loud. This club provides an outlet for students who find peace in creating art and don't want to worry about a bad grade or feel obligated to create art that they feel like they have no connection to.

The Asian Students’ Coalition is an affinity group that creates community for Asian and Asian American students at St. Ignatius College Preparatory. ASC provides a place to explore, share, and discuss the various Asian and Asian American heritages, cultures, and identities. ASC promotes ongoing education and dialogue about Asian American issues and seeks to support and empower students to contribute to an inclusive school community.

We aim to spread awareness about the deaf and hearing loss community. Not only do we try to bring light to the challenges these people face, but also to learn how to communicate with them. At the ASL club, we are learning American Sign Language in order to learn a new language and bring awareness to the deaf and hearing loss community.

The mission of ALAS is to foster community and positive identity exploration and formation for the Latinx students at Saint Ignatius College Preparatory. ALAS provides a space for reflection, dialogue, and support for Latinx students with the objective of empowering members to contribute to an inclusive school community. ALAS encourages celebration and education about Latinx culture, history, and experiences at Saint Ignatius.

ALAS will gather on Zoom! Every Monday during Latinx Heritage Month, we are having Latinx Lunes, and throughout the year, we will be hosting fun ALAS socials to get to know our members a little better and connect as a family.

The St. Ignatius Block Club is an organization for student-athletes at Saint Ignatius College Preparatory. The role of the Block Club is to provide service to the school Administration and the Athletic Department. Members may be called upon to give their time both during school and at after-school activities. The Saint Ignatius Block Club is also a fraternity for athletes, sponsoring social events for the club and for the entire student body and offering the services of its members to groups outside the student body, for example, the Fathers’ Club, the Ignatian Guild, etc.

Our Mission is to enrich the SI community with body positivity and acceptance. We want to address the unrealistic beauty standards in the media and within our own school through discussions, activities and collaborations with other high schools. We hope to educate others about the stigma surrounding body image and help each other build confidence.

Our mission is to educate and give students the opportunity to learn about what is currently happening at the US-Mexico border. We also look at how harsh border policy and injustices along the border affect citizens both in Mexico and the United States. Through bake sales and fundraisers, our club works to send financial support to various organizations and services that aid individuals struggling with immigrant policies.

The mission it to destigmatize and end discrimination of mental illness through education.

Budding Penships welcomes anyone of any background into the comforting practice of penpalling. We will build our connections by reaching out to communities beyond SI, and teach them about the joy that could come from writing to one another. Penpalling is not about perfect grammar or punctuation, but expressing creativity through art and the written word and strengthening our bonds with others. Together, we will form friendships through letters, express ourselves through free writing, and appreciate our diversity by learning about each other’s colorful cultures.

CSF is a club that fosters service among students with good grades in academic classes. Past service activities have been making sandwiches for the homeless, tutoring fellow students, and participating in S.I.'s holiday food drive. It is the mission of the Cancer Awareness Group to outreach to those both in the SI community and the greater community who is affected by cancer. The CAG strives to provide a safe and caring environment for students to give and receive support for cancer related grief and loss. Our student chapter is part of an extensive community of Canine Companions staff and volunteers. Our mission is to raise awareness about the need and usefulness of service dogs, recruit new puppy raisers and volunteers, and support Canine Companions in the work they do.

The Children’s Hospital Program is a club that focuses on helping kids think positively about their recovery in the hospital. We make cards and goodie bags that are personally delivered to the children at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital and the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. Collective Impact is a community service and engagement club focused on providing service for kids grades k-8 who live in the Western Addition neighborhood. We plan and organize after school activities at the Ella Hill Hutch Community Center, while also providing any assistance we can to the community center.

SI’s Computer Science Club aims to increase student interest and involvement in the field of computer science. By hosting meetings that cover topics ranging from artificial intelligence to mobile app and web development, this club will provide students with the access and exposure they need to further explore careers within computer science and technology.

Cooking for the Community strives to teach high school students the fundamental skills of nutritious cooking while also giving back to their community via donations. Club members will cook simplistic yet nutritious meals in their home kitchens with thorough instructions provided by cabinet members via zoom. The homemade meals will then be collected and brought to a multitude of local reputable food banks, homeless shelters, or kitchens.

Dance and Drill is a hip-hop dance group, made up of talented, spirited, and diverse students. Drill performs at certain events at SI to raise excitement and school spirit, especially during athletic games throughout the year. Drill meets three times a week to learn choreography and rehearse for the upcoming performances.

This club invites SI students to apply to be a tutor for the FSA students. We engage in important ways of teaching and social justice work.

The detective/forensic science club strives to help students practice their problem solving and critical thinking skills in a creative way. Members will learn the basics of forensic science and engage in hands-on activities.

To create a community which is accepting and supportive of the differences that people have because of disabilities. This alliance group serves to improve disability awareness at SI by educating the community around the diversity of disabilities and their impact, and promoting an inclusive and understanding environment at SI.

Our goal at Disney Club is to provide a couple hours to relax and enjoy each other’s company while watching some of our favorite or underappreciated Disney movies. In Disney Club, we try to create a safe space to meet new people, create new friendships, and bond over timeless movies. Each year we try to donate as much as possible to one of Disney’s biggest foundations, the Make a Wish Foundation. We hold multiple bake sales in order to raise the funds we send to the foundation.

Female athletes are largely underrepresented and stigmatized for a variety of reasons. From a lack of access to equipment to the publicity of female sports, we have first hand experience that we want to shed light on, and hopefully inspire as many young athletes as we can.

SI Finance Club's purpose is to engage students in learning about basic investing and managing personal finances. Our mission is to help students develop financial literacy through an interactive stock market simulator, monthly meetings, and guest speakers who have worked in finance.

The Girl Scout Club on the SI campus strives to brings Girl Scouts from different troops and backgrounds together in order to learn, grow, and improve the world around us. The club focuses on expanding entrepreneurial skills, fundraising for important organizations, and of course cookies. Girls in Journalism provides a platform to young women within the SI community to express themselves while developing career skills within the modernized media field. The female oriented committee is inspired to exercise opinionated writing through an online editorial, while simultaneously supporting female student advocacy. Girls in Journalism embraces the generational transform from physical prints, to virtual newspapers, while promoting the learning of professionalism in publications.

The goods4good club gives students the opportunity to conduct fundraisers and sales of products to the SI community, then donate the profits to various foundations and organizations. We allow students to exercise and grow their entrepreneurial skills while helping those in need and contributing to the larger community.

The Green Team at SI exists to educate and inspire changes in action and attitude in all members of the SI community so that we can create sustainable practices regarding food, water, transportation, housing, energy, and general consumer practices. We also hope to deepen a connection with nature for members of the SI community so that we might truly find God in all things. We hope that the changes we inspire affect us personally, affect the institution of the school and go beyond the bounds of the school in ever widening circles.

Our mission with our Habitat for Humanity club is to expose students to the activities the program offers, connecting students to opportunities to fulfill their service requirements while participating in additional activities to support the organization. We will along with explaining the different aspects of volunteer positions.

The he(art) club was started by Andrés Safa and Javi Rosewarne in 2022. It was started to create a space that encourages Black and Latino boys to embrace the creative sides of themselves. In our society and school, Black and Latino boys often time’s feel as if they don’t have a space in the arts, and end up missing out on a potential amazing opportunity that can come out of exploring these paths. We will be exploring digital and physical art, photography, poetry and every aspect of art and creativity imaginable, no prior skills or experience is needed. We will also teach about different inspiring artists and hopefully have guest speakers come in and speak about their experiences. An incorporation of service will also be added to help younger students get involved and exposed to the arts at a younger age. The he(art) club is a mix of socializing, learning and service and we hope to see everybody and anybody who is interested there.

The Ignatian’s goal is produce a yearbook that acts as a history book, memory book, and reference book that will be enjoyable to all for both today and the next fifty years. Using words and pictures, the book aims to capture all the actions, thoughts, feelings, joys, and frustrations that the student body will encounter in the school year.

Pope Francis wrote that “the mission of the communications media is to bring people together, shorten distances, provide necessary information, and open minds and hearts to truth…” 

As editors-in-chief of InSIde SI, we are dedicated to serving our school by showcasing a diverse array of voices, informing the student body with well-researched and unbiased news articles, and incorporating Ignatian values through our work. We strive to maintain a tight knit community on and off campus/on and off screen despite the physical distance. InSIde SI exists to bridge the literal gap from the pandemic, but also the gaps left by the absent sports seasons, fine art performances, in-person classes and activities. But most of all, Inside SI wants to reflect and represent the core of Ignatian values found in all parts of the campus. As Ignatians we are called to justice. The recent and ongoing events of 2020 only serve to highlight the injustices present in our country and in our community. The Irish Club aims to introduce participants of the SI community to the beauty and uniqueness of Irish culture as one of the many cultures represented at SI.  Students will participate in discussion of both Irish and Irish American history and culture. As we discuss the trends of historical change and modern politics, we will develop a greater understanding of the need for social justice in the modern world. Respect for the beauty of all cultures within the context of the American fabric will be a focus of this group. Movies, good food, and dancing are part of the Irish Club experience.

The Jewish Affinity Group (JAG) at SI is a community for students who identify culturally or religiously as Jewish to come together in a safe space to bond with each other, celebrate holidays, and discuss how it feels to be Jewish at a Catholic school. Another component of JAG’s mission is fostering a space for Jewish students to share their culture and heritage with the broader community.

The Jesuit Refugee Service is an international Catholic organization that accompanies, serves, and advocates for refugees and other forcibly displaced persons. Our goal as a club is to help spread awareness, and support the organization through activities like letter writing to displaced persons, movie screenings surrounding immigration issues, and hopefully a penal program between Ukrainian refugees and SI Students. We hope to see JRS continue to help millions heal, learn, and determine their future.

The California Junior Classical League (CAJCL) seeks to promote a more thorough knowledge of Classical life, history, and literature; to impart a better understanding of the practical and cultural value of the Classics; to interest other students in the Classical languages, literature, government, laws, and arts; and, as members of this organization, to always strive to promote friendship and fellowship among students of the Classics.

LeadOURship’s mission is to expand the mental health conversation at SI to those in high-performance positions. This ranges, but is not limited to, athletes, performing arts crews/actors, dancers, musicians, artists, and many more. As a club, our plan is to explore the different effects of mental health beyond regular students and to understand how to use mindset to work through performance blockage and confidence. Throughout the year we will learn from local organization, LeadHERship to understand the foundations of performer’s mental health. Our overall objective is creatively teach a new narrative of low stress atmospheres for our students in high-performance positions.

Mahjong is one of those quintessential pastimes that helps relieve stress, regulate people’s moods and help them relax, but also gets their minds going and is the activity to enjoy during their downtime!! Our club will participate in educating people on the game, where it came from, and how to be a master at it!!

Meaningful Ignatians recognizes that coming from a place of privilege warrants equal service to the community. In Meaningful Ignatians, we work to promote equal learning opportunity to disadvantaged youths across San Francisco. Members will participate as virtual academic and personal mentors to children in disadvantaged communities.

SI's Mock Trial program is an inter-scholastic competition in which students (like those throughout California and the United States), litigate a hypothetical case in front of real judges and attorneys. Each high school team consists of students performing various trial roles, including arguing pretrial motions, conducting direct and cross-examinations, portraying witnesses, and serving as court clerk or court bailiff.

Our goal is to create an open space where SI can ask questions, get advice and learn about new things while enjoying something they love, music. The Pacific Islander Association (PIA) is an affinity group that strives to unify people who identify as Pacific Islander at SI. We want to create a safe place that allows identifying students to share their different experiences and show who we are as a community.  PIA is a place for students to share ancestral stories and connect our present day identities in a safe, empowering, and affirming space. PIA aspires to preserve Pacific Islander culture and identity, raise awareness about the challenges of Pacific Islanders, and cultivate a sense of belonging for Pacific Islander students.

This affinity group will be for those who identify as Pacific Islander. Pacific Islanders are those who identify as Melanesian, Micronesian, Australasian, or Polynesian

A club in which pet lovers have a mission: to share their unique experiences  and bonds with their pets. SI students can share the unconditional love and happiness that pets bring to people. Reaching out as community service, pets can bring comfort to people in times of need; to children in hospitals and seniors in care centers. We can assist with therapy dog visits during exam weeks.

LGBTQ+ Affinity creates a forum in which LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning) students and faculty, along with their straight allies, are able to discuss pertinent topics related to gender identity and sexual orientation. Through our work as people for and with others, we hope to establish and nurture an atmosphere of compassion, respect and awareness on the St. Ignatius campus.

Established in 1969, The St. Ignatius Service Club is an organization of upper-division students. The Service Club provides myriad types of assistance facilitating SI events. The Service Club serves the SI community during events such as The Mass of the Holy Spirit, Back to School Night, Campus Exploration, Baccalaureate  Mass, Fine Arts performances, Counseling Nights, Graduation, and more. Membership lasts until graduation. Members must be in good standing with the Principal’s Office and with the Dean’s Office.

The SI Spoken Word Collective is a club that aims to serve as a catalyst for students to write about topics they are passionate about, build more confidence with public speaking, and perform their written works in a judge-free environment. We encourage students of all grades to have their voices be heard and to cultivate a message of artistry through spoken word! Through different opportunities and possible guest speakers, they will also learn the fundamentals of public speaking and presenting! The Collective also fosters an appreciation of poetry and spoken word and its purpose is to provide an opportunity for students to develop as poets and perform their work. No experience is required :)

The Saint Ignatius Sports Medicine Club is dedicated to educating students and providing experience in the field of Sports Medicine. We strive to instill Cura Personalis in our club members by caring for the whole athlete through prevention, assessment and recovery from athletic injury. We are called to be on-campus leaders in sports medicine who are open to growth and learning about professional pathways in healthcare.

SITV seeks to showcase all aspects of St. Ignatius College Preparatory through the delivery of announcements on Tuesdays and Fridays.  We spotlight all of our student body with its different gifts and talents by shifting the lens to show all of the different shapes, sizes, and colors that make up SI. The Sports Analytics and Support Club brings together students who are interested in the support and analysis needed for our teams to perform well on the field. In the professional sports world, teams heavily rely on analytics to create gameplans that bring a competitive advantage. With this in mind, SAS works closely with our various teams to track statistics and record film. Using this data, students identify trends and solutions for our teams, allowing players to be more successful on the field. Students in the club are also able to contribute in other aspects of Athletic Support if they are interested . By combining sports knowledge with data analysis, we hope to leave a long-lasting impact on the future of SI Athletics. Sunrise relies on their network of Sunrise hubs to amplify social and climate justice initiatives.

The SI Surf Club is a student-centered club whose purpose is to promote community among SI students, faculty and staff who share a passion for surfing and beach culture. The SI Surf Club strives to serve the community and the environment through its actions and words, in and out of the water.

The Apogee Report is St. Ignatius College Preparatory’s student-run publication website focused on exposing students to various areas of STEM. We provide reports of the latest STEM news and opportunities at and outside of SI. Our goal is to keep SI students well-informed of science fields and careers, as well as their impact on the world today and beyond.


The Apogee Report will also consist of the IHEI (International Health Expansion Initiative). The IHEI is a student-led initiative focused on spreading awareness of global health crises that are not covered well by the media. Our mission is to bring awareness of those crises to SI and to fundraise for organizations that aid those areas. The IHEI will work under The Apogee Report.

The Quill is St. Ignatius College Preparatory’s student-run literary magazine. Under the auspices of the English Department, this publication prints creative short fiction, poetry, and art from SI students. After reviewing submissions from students at every grade level, the editorial board chooses, edits, and lays out the material for the magazine. The magazine is distributed to the SI community in May of every year.

The White Anti-Racist Alliance members are White-identifying students at St. Ignatius who support each other in working to actively dismantle White supremacy in ourselves and our community. Members examine how Whiteness impacts ourselves, our relationships, actions, and systems in an ongoing collaboration to build a school culture that is just and equitable.

Wildcat Nations’s main goal is to improve and support all areas of school spirit by setting a prime example for the rest of the student body.  The Wildcat Nation Leadership team encourages students to participate in spirit weeks, attend and cheer at all school events, and show school spirit and pride for SI.

The Wildcast Podcast Club is for anyone who loves telling stories! It's for anyone with an interest in podcasting, from confirmed audiophiles to occasional podcast listeners. Students discuss qualities of great podcasts through the lens of their favorite shows, learn about the nuts & bolts (interviewing, music/sound, editing, promotion) of podcast production, and record and produce podcasts.

Women of Color for Health is a club, specifically intended for women of color, to get a proper introduction into the world of medicine and healthcare. Through presentations from current medical professionals and those who work in health care environments, trips to colleges, and volunteer opportunities, young women will get the chance to learn more about the health and medical fields in hopes of pursuing a career in those fields.

The Yoga Club at SI was created to unite students through the powerful art of yoga and mindfulness. Yoga has the power to heal the mind, body, and soul, and through this club, students have the opportunity to do so with the support of their passionate peers wishing to do the same. Whether you have been practicing yoga your whole life or have never even done a downward dog, this club is open to anyone hoping to pursue yoga in a welcoming community.
