Technology Onboarding
Welcome to the Tech Onboarding page! Each year, the library faculty provides incoming students instruction and support as they learn the technology tools they will use at SI. Once at SI, students will continue to receive help from the library faculty with their educational apps. We hope this page helps both parents and students find the information you need about the apps and tech SI requires. If you can't find the information you are looking for on this page, please reach out to us via email at SI_librarians@siprep.org.
Upon completing registration, students should receive all the information they need to access their email. They should be able to log on to gmail.com with their full @siprep.org address.
iPads
By June 1, students will need the iPads they will use at SI. Don't know what iPad to buy? Want to use one you already have? All the information you need about iPads is here.
Mandatory Tech Trainings
Aug. 1-15 window of completion for Part 1 & 2.
Part 1: Canvas
Canvas is the system SI students use to find class content, submit homework, check grades, and more.
Students who know how to navigate Canvas and take advantage of its functionality will get the most out of their academic experience.
Part 2: iPad and other school apps.
Students will learn how to use our school’s most important educational apps and set up their iPads to be effective academic tools.
What you need to know:
- Students must complete this training on the iPad they will use for school.
- Students will receive the course invitation through their email, which must be set up beforehand.
- The course goes live on Aug. 1* at 9 a.m. and all parts are due on Aug. 15 at 6 p.m.
- Students can work on this training at their own pace. It should take no longer than three hours to complete.
- *students should check their SI email inbox for details about the course date changes.

Students may set up an appointment for individual help by emailing si_librarians@siprep.org.
FAQs
How do students access their email?
- Login to the registration website, using the same username and password used during the registration process.
- Once logged in, you will be presented with a link to the student's email address and their email password, as well as instructions.
- The student should follow the provided instructions to access their email.
Is my student's password for email the same as the password we used on the registration website?
No. A student will need to follow the instructions provided upon completing registration and use the assigned password they receive at that time.
Why can't a student change their password on the Google homepage?
By following the directions provided at registration, students create a universal log in to their their network account, which includes Gmail by Google, PowerSchool, and Canvas. Changing a password on Google alone doesn't change the network account.
What's a network account?
A network account is a universal account that allows students access to their Google account, their Canvas account, their PowerSchool account, and password-protected information on the SI webpage.
If a student knows their password to their network account, how can they change it?
Students should follow the directions on this page.
If a student doesn't know their password to their network account, how can they change it?
In this case, a student must contact the library faculty at si_librarians@siprep.org for help.
What apps will students need on their iPads?
Students will learn about and install the required school apps during Parts 1 and 2 of the Tech Trainings described above.
