About ALAS and AALPA
The Association of Latin American Students (ALAS) is an affinity group at St. Ignatius. Affinity groups promote awareness and respect for diversity at St. Ignatius and support the ethnic identity formation of its members. The mission of ALAS is to foster community and positive identity exploration and formation for the Latinx students at Saint Ignatius College Preparatory. ALAS provides a space for reflection, dialogue, and support for Latinx students with the objective of empowering members to contribute to an inclusive school community. ALAS encourages celebration and education about Latinx culture, history, and experiences at Saint Ignatius.
The St. Ignatius African American and Latino Parents Association (AALPA) is a multicultural, multiracial group of volunteer parents, grandparents and guardians of Black and Latinx students. AALPA promotes family equity, education, support, and mentorship via social and networking opportunities. Through outreach efforts in our communities, AALPA seeks to raise awareness of the educational opportunities at St. Ignatius College Preparatory for Black and Latinx students. AALPA supports SI’s mission of enhancing the diversity of cultures in the school and is committed to fostering safe, welcoming environments wherein all forms of diversity are honored and valued.
