As the school year comes to a close, this provides a wonderful opportunity to reflect on how the BEE has been buzzing around campus. The BEE has been very active this year in providing professional development opportunities for our faculty and staff, as well as supporting colleagues in honing their craft and, of course, being a resource for our students.

Nov. 8 was National First-Gen Day and the SI community recognized and celebrated faculty and staff who are first-generation college graduates in an effort to advance an asset-based narrative on first-generation student experiences and outcomes.
The DEIB Parent Committee was established in 2022 to advance education, foster inclusive decision-making, and promote equitable access to programs, events, and resources for parents, caregivers, and students at St. Ignatius.
We started the school year with our annual Magis First-Year Retreat in August, welcoming more than 40 first-year students to SI and the Magis Program.
Affinity groups promote awareness, inclusivity, and respect for diversity at St. Ignatius. The student affinity groups gather throughout the year to support the identity formation of their members and provide a safe space for students who self identify within each affinity group.
As we prepare to enter the holiday season, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you — students, parents, caregivers, faculty, and staff — who contribute to the vibrancy of our St. Ignatius community.
Last year, I introduced SI's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging strategic plan to our community. This strategic plan is meant to be both tactical and strategic in an ongoing effort to close identified performance gaps. This plan provides an aligned vision and scope of work that supports the social justice component of our Ignatian identity and practice.
As we end the first semester of the 2024-25 school year, I would like to take this opportunity to take a glance back at some of the great moments that have flourished from the Office of Belonging, Equity, and Excellence thus far.
As we look forward to time to rest and recharge after this semester, I value this opportunity to reflect on some moments of joy that came from the celebrations and milestones and the healing and growth that resulted from important and challenging conversations our community has engaged in this spring.
